George Sharp is coming back to lead worship – On the morning of September 12th former minister George Sharp and his wife Audrey will be at TwPG. George will be preaching and celebrating communion with us, so please pass the word to any old friends who might like to see them both.
A Big Circuit Covenant Service at TwPG at 4:00pm September 12th – On the same day that George and Audrey will be with us, a big Circuit Covenant Service is to be held in the afternoon. After last year’s very successful Circuit Covenant Service in Chester Cathedral (about 250 people went to that one), our Circuit Superintendent, Jim Dobson, has suggested that we need to prepare for 200 to 300 people. Traditionally, Covenant Services (a special service designed by John Wesley at which Christians recommit themselves to God) are held on the first Sunday of January. However, this will be an opportunity to recommit ourselves to God at the beginning of a new church year. Please try to come along. Covenant services are very important; there will be a lot of people there from other churches, and it is important that TwPG be well represented.
Harvest Supper on September 25th!!!! This year we are all invited for Harvest Supper at Hamilton Memorial. It will start at 6:30 PM. Jenny Peace it informs us that although the menu and cost have not yet been decided it will be a wonderful evening. More information will follow but please mark it in your calendar now. Events like this are a lot of fun and an important part of growing together with Hamilton.
Back to Church Sunday, 26th September Please pray for the success of this day and for possible new people to join us. May the spirit work among us in making people feel welcome and as if they want to be with us.
Would everybody think about someone they could invite on 26th. The fact that you invite someone is good; whether they come or not is up to them. You are sowing the seeds by inviting them.
Speak to Carole Blease, Fran Begbie, Lyn Howell, Neil McMullen, Karen Williamson or June Wilson if you have any ideas or suggestions for this day or if you would like to be involved in any way
Blair to be in Canada – Blair is going to be in Canada for sixteen days for the weddings of my nephew and niece. He will be leaving via Manchester Airport on the morning of September 24th and returning on October 11th. If you have any pastoral emergencies during my absence, please be in touch with Deacon Steve Peck on 651 2506.
Three Special Upcoming Sunday Evening Services - Whilst Blair is in Canada there will be three special Sunday evening services for which three TwPG lay people have agreed to give their leadership.
Brian Williamson will be speaking at the service on September 26th (Tom Chambers has agreed to be a backup if Brian is not well enough).
Ros Bowhay will be speaking at the service on October 3 and
Allan Brame will be speaking at the one on the Oct. 10th.
They will all be speaking about subjects that are close to their hearts so it would be good to have as many people as possible there to support them. Dorothy Walker will be playing the piano.
Worship at Hamilton on the morning of October 10th – On the morning of October 10th at
10:30 am will be worshipping and sharing communion at Hamilton Memorial. That means that there will be no church at TwPG. Please pass the word around so that no one goes to TwPG by accident and everyone goes to Hamilton where we will share worship and fellowship with our friends there.
Church Anniversary Service with David and Ann Gardiner – Our Anniversary Service this will be on November 7th and it will be lead by former minister, David Gardiner.
Fresh Expressions Vision Day November 13th at Liverpool Hope University
Fresh Expressions is a term used to describe new forms of church and Christian life that attract new people.
At this time of change, all of the big denominations have been interested in, and supportive of, these new church expressions and new ways of proclaiming the gospel.
On November 13th from 9:45am to 4:00pm there will be day to discover more about what we might be able to do here at TwPG in this regard.
Blair will be there and he wants the Elders and as many others as possible to go. You will need to take a packed lunch but drinks will be provided.
Speak to Blair if you interested.
